Holiday gift ideas (Under $20!)

My favorite gift ideas – all under $20!

I am officially DONE with my holiday shopping. (Yeah!!!) This year, I ordered almost everything online and avoided the line, crowd, and pepper spray. If you are looking for last minute gift ideas, here are some items that I love from Amazon.  They are all under $20 and doesn’t involve socks. (If you happen to be shopping for socks, I recommend Smartwool.)

Coffee – anyone?

I can’t get started with my day without having one cup of coffee but I hate brewing a whole pot because I only drink 1 cup. And, we all know, it’s just about impossible to get 1 cup of good coffee from a coffee maker. Welcome to HIC Porcelain Coffee Cone. In my experience, this is by far the easiest way to brew a single cup. All you have to do is boil some water, place a filter and scoop of coffee inside the HIC Cone, then pour the boiling water over the coffee. It comes in various sizes.

I have No. 1, which is really good for 1 scoop of coffee (pictured). Here is No. 4, which is good for 2 – 3 people. See the various color and size options here.

For $6.93, it’s totally budget friendly and a great investment. (I have a plastic one as well, which I bring camping.)As you can see, it’s a very simple set-up. Toss everything in the dishwasher when done or hand wash.

Write a Love Note

I carry these little notebooks with me and write down everything from the grocery list to a love notes. Yes, we all have our PDA, iPhone, iPad, netbook, labtops, etc. but there is just something awesome about taking a minute to write something. Moleskine comes in various colors and sizes.

I just bought one in red.

Back to 1999 – The Matrix

I recently saw The Matrix again and I was surprised it came out in 1999. Yes, it was that long ago. Another surprising thing I noticed is how good the movie still is, even 10+ years later. The Blue-ray version is on sale for $7.99. Can’t beat that.

Vacu Vin Stainless Steel Wine Saver Gift Set

Ever open a bottle of wine and not finish it on the same night? Okay, let me rephrase that – maybe polishing off an entire bottle isn’t a great idea and you should save it for another night. This handy gadget will allow you to save wine and stop it from turning into vinegar. I find that it’s best to drink it within 3-4 days, although according to the manufacturer, it will keep fresh for 7-10 days. It’s easy to use and the pourers are a nice touch. On sale for $19.59.

Oxo Good Grips Salt & Pepper Grinder

These are my personal favorite. We purchased these for our wedding as gifts and they are really one of the best salt and pepper grinders around ($19.99 each. Eligible for 4-for-3 promotion). I like the easy adjustable settings from super fine to coarse. I’ve used these almost daily for the past 6 months and it works great. You can order the set here.
